Springville High School
Wasatch High School
The Wasatch Girls Volleyball team started strong, but couldn’t maintain enough consistency and lost a tough home match to Springville, 3-0. The Wasps’ Tori Dorius had 5 kills and 2 blocks, Brynli Buehler added 4 kills and 2 blocks and Jen Lythgoe had 14 assists, 3 kills and 6 digs. Soph Ellie Martindale, filling in for injured Sidney Ostergaard, had 3 kills, 12 digs and 3 service aces.
Wasatch led at one point in game one 18-11, but unforced WHS errors let Springville slowly climb back in the game. The Wasps still led 22-18, but went on another error spree and had 3 errors in the next 5 plays to let the Devils tie it at 22-22. Wasatch won the next point, but then had another two errors to give the game away. Overall in the match, the WHS hitters had 20 kills but 26 errors, for a team hitting percentage of -.065. They also added 7 missed serves. WHS stayed close again in game 2, but could not recover from the lost momentum. The loss puts the Wasps at 1-2 in Region 8 and drops them to 3rd place.
Next up for Wasatch is a region match at Provo on Thursday, Sept. 28th
