Wasatch High School
The WHS Girls Volleyball team notched a strong win on the road at the Provo Bulldogs on Thursday, Sept. 28th, 3 games to 1. As a team, the Wasps collected 39 kills against 19 errors for a team hitting average of .225, a huge improvement from the 20 kill, 29 error effort against Springville two night earlier. The win at Provo improves the Wasps region record to 2-2 to keep their 3rd place spot intact at the near midpoint of the season.
Wasatch was led by a monster effort from Tori Dorius, who had 15 kills against only 2 errors to hit .542, and also added 5 aces and 4 blocks. Seniors Lacey Kelsch and Bret Lloyd added 8 and 7 kills resprectively, while Libero Shelby Huntington had 13 digs and 2 aces and Soph Ellie Martindale added 12 digs and 4 aces. Setter Jen Lythgoe contributed 29 assists, 3 kills and 3 aces.
The Wasps next week have 2 home matches, first against Maple Mountain on Tuesday, Oct. 3rd, and then beginning the second half of region play by facing 1st place Skyridge on Thursday, Oct. 5th. WHS lost a close battle on the road at Skyridge on Sept. 21st.
