Wasatch Boys Basketball finished its non-region schedule in dramatic fashion with a 43-42 victory over Brighton High School.
The Wasps trailed by 2 points with 18.0 seconds to play; after great ball movement and several extra passes, Daniel Miller found himself open in the corner. Miller rose up and hit go-ahead triple with just a few ticks remaining to give Wasatch the victory. The win marks 5 wins in their last 6 contests pushing Wasatch’s overall record to 7-6.
Wasatch lead by 15 points in the first half but sputtered on offense as Brighton eventually built a 38-31 lead with under 4:00 remaining in the 4th Quarter. Wasatch was able to make the comeback behind tough defense and timely shooting.
Miller finished with 10 points, all in the second half, while Brandon Maxwell lead the Wasp attack with 11 points and 6 rebounds. Tyler Eaton and Logan Parke each proved instrumental with 8 rebounds a piece. Jack Holmes and Will Harris both had 6 points from downtown while Mack Hinckley came off the bench with 5 big points including an old-fashioned 3-points play in a pivotal moment.
Wasatch will begin Region 8 play next week on Friday, January 12 with a home game against Maple Mountain.
