Wasatch Girls Lacrosse Falls to Timpanogos 9-6
In an exciting nail biter game, Wasatch Girls Varsity Lacrosse fell to Timpanogos last Tuesday. The game started off looking to favor Timpanogos when they scored in the first 30 seconds. Unfortunately, this set the tone for the first half, which Timpanogos seemed to dominate. Timpanogos scored four times unanswered by the Wasatch team in the first half. Goalie Bethany Enger held them off fantastically with a 59% save percentage, however their defense was too strong for Wasatch. In the last minute thirty seconds Junior Brisa Clayton scored for the first time and then followed it up with a second fast break and goal, thirty seconds later.
Going into the second half behind by two, Timpanogos again managed to score in the first 30 seconds and then again two minutes later. Timpanogos scored once more before Wasatch rallied and scored four times in a row, first by Lucy Colton and then three times by Shelby Parker. Now with the score at 7-6, Wasatch seemed to be on a roll, when Timpanogos called a time out, disrupting the excitement and the forward momentum the girls seemed to be on. Both teams were fired up and looking for the win, but with a few minutes left, both teams were also tiring. Timpanogos managed to turn over the possession of the ball and scored one more time. In an exhilarating last few minutes Wasatch girls played their hearts out, only to have Timpanogos score one more time in the last 16 seconds, ending the game at 9-6. There was some genuine excitement and passion shown from the Wasatch girls in the second half, if they can summon this passion for future games, it should make for a fun season.
