Girls Varsity Soccer · Soccer falls to Skyridge & Timpanogos

Girls Soccer Action this Week

The odds were not in our favor Tuesday, Sept. 4th as all three teams traveled to challenge a very strong Skyridge program. Varsity fought hard but finished with a 2-1 loss, goal scored by Mary Santiago. JV lost 3-0 and the Freshman team lost 3-1.

Currently ranked #1 in the polls, Timpanogos came to play on the Wasps home field Thursday, Sept 6thFor the majority of the game Varsity remained competitive and threatening, recording 13 shots on goal. Two down at half, the girls battled back with a goal by Mary Santiago assisted by Hannah Cope, and continued to press and create chances. But Timp finished an excellent near-post volley later in the second half, followed quickly by a chipped shot, putting them up 4-1. Even with the game out of reach and time waning, Wasatch continued to play well, possessing, attacking, and fighting hard through the remaining time.

JV played a smart and consistent possession game, with standout performances in the defense from Nayell Barnett and midfield by Rachel Clark. Despite several officiating setbacks, the girls powered to a 3-1 victory over the top-ranked program with goals scored by Mason Kelly, Sydney Hales, and Amber Jacobson.

All teams are again in action on Tuesday, Sept 11thThe Freshman team will be away at Park City, while Varsity and JV will meet Springville at home, 4pm and 5:45pm respectively.
