Cross country, Track · Speeding Things up in Spanish Fork for XC Pre-region

Cross country had yet another hot and grueling race last wednesday to compete with the other region teams in a pre-region race. Pre-region races are great to help everyone know how things will go down at the end of the season. It lets the coaches and athletes familiarize themselves with the course as well as their fellow competitors. Competing with Wasatch this year we have Park City, Maple Mountain, Salem Hills, Springville, Provo, Payson, and Spanish Fork. The Spanish Fork course consists of two loops around the Spanish Fork Sports Complex giving athletes a good chance to really get a fast race. This cross country course is 3.1 miles, compared to the highland invitational of 2.9 miles our athletes in theory should have had times that were about a minute slower however as coaches we were excited to find many personal records at this race. Out of the girls we had Abi Krull, Grace Neal, Savannah Dorrough, Audrey Burton, Emmalee Hendry, and Molly Baird all run their fastest race yet this season. Molly was the biggest improvement taking a whopping 1:22 off of her previous race time. From the Boys teams we had Jake Giles, Ethan Huntsman, Hyrum Allen, Brock Reeder, Quinn Dunker, Ethan Blanco, and Isaiah Cieslewicz all run their fastest race this season with Isaiah breaking away with the biggest improvement of 1:05 off of his previous time. We were also pleased with both girls teams, Our Varsity team placed 2nd and our JV placed 3rd. The boys varsity race was quite the competitive feat as well with only 33 points between the 2nd place team and 8th place team. With competition that close it will really be a race of grit and determination to see which teams will qualify for state at the end of the season.  As our athletes continue speedwork we hope to continue to see improvements from all of them. Their next race will be September 7th here at our very own Soldier Hollow Complex. Races start at 8:30.
